Every so often it’s a good idea to add fresh graphics to your publication, blog or website. When I went looking for a new logo for my newsletter, I was shocked by how much a designer wanted to charge. With only a small budget, I simply needed to create a small header logo that I could post onto my website and newsletter.
I looked around the internet checking out many design companies …but never found much that I liked. The images that are included with products like MS Word or Publisher just don’t look all that terrific. Lot’s of clip art.
What I discovered was that I could actually have my OWN logo and graphic design studio. Just by using 2 or 3 software products! A logo creator for example, plus a business card tool and perhaps an animated logo product. The cost for these three in total would be much less than what a designer would charge me.
With the help of these tools, I was able to produce what I needed in about 90 minutes and I was able to get back to work on my newsletter.
These tools gave me unique “look,” to my images since I created them myself. Subtle graphics like large colorful letters using unique fonts. With most of these software products, you’re able to select a starting point (a Template), and experiment with placement or colorization. You can move and place the objects on the canvas anyway you choose. You can replace the existing text with your own company name and even add a slogan to tagline!
When I have a complex document to create, I actually do like using Word templates to get up and running quickly. But when it comes to graphics, a blank PhotoShop canvas is simply too intimidating. Software products such as The Logo Creator is perfect.
When you’re ready to publish your graphics file, most of these tools can create JPEG, GIF, TIFF, BMP, and EPS files (among other formats).
The software is usually inexpensive, (when compared to what a professional designer may charge you), and the results are terrific. Most of the products are easy to use. You may find that experimenting with these tools gets addictive. The templates offer a great variety of ideas and designs. There’s also enough flexibility to let you create logos for clients! Doing it yourself is quicker, you have more control, and it’s far less expensive when you simply need a page header or a blog image.
